This year, we decided to establish WALMARK fund for the Třinec region and we take this opportunity to announce its first grant round. The priorities within areas, where we want to help, copy the three main topics which we can help to support by means of the new fund. They include:
Help to those who need it – support of community social services
- Support for projects which resolve the situation of mentally, psychologically, and physically handicapped by means of communal care outside state institutions – foster care, protected workshops, assistant services, social welfare institutions for children, friendly groups, etc.
- Support for organizations helping socially disadvantaged citizens – such as care for mothers with children in distress, asylum accommodation, resolving situation of young people after leaving homes for children.
- Free social-legal advisory service, advisory councils for families, etc.
- Communal centres for children and youth
- Community, family, and mother centres
- Implementation of a new type of social services within the community (such as hospices, services for older people, supported employment, etc.)
Support of education and free time activities for children and youth
- Projects complementing the activities of nurseries and basic schools and other educational organizations
- Reconstruction of playgrounds
- Active free time activities
Health and healthy lifestyle
- Promotion of healthy diet and lifestyle
- Prevention of civilization diseases
- Restriction and management of the consequences of excessive stress, care for mental health
- Prevention of injuries
Non-profit organizations registered as citizen associations, not-for-profit organization, foundations, and endowment funds, and purpose built premises run by a church can apply for this fund. Allowance organizations can also apply for the fund. The applying organizations must verify that they will operate and run the project within the Třinec region. Before the end of this year, Walmark fund for the Třinec region will divide 350,000 CZK. The maximum grant amount we can offer to you is 40,000 CZK. This amount can create 100 % costs for the project for non-profit organizations and 50 % project costs for allowance organizations. One applicant can submit the maximum of one application. The project duration can be up to 6 months – from 01.02.09 to 31.07.09.
The project selection method
Registered projects will be evaluated by an independent evaluating committee. The committee will not select the projects but only recommend them. The final decision as to the financial support allocation of WALMARK fund for the Třinec regions will be made by our employees. What will the selection procedure look like?
The valuating committee will select a group of high quality projects and recommend them for the support from Walmark employees. They will be informed on the content of individual projects and vote by means of intranet and voting boxes to decide which projects will gain the support of Walmark (e.g. from 15 committee recommended projects, the employees will select 10 projects which will get the grant). An important aspect regarding the project should be the fact that the projects reacts to the regional requirements, if it is appropriately formulated, and if the financial requirements are adequate.
