Do you know, which food supplement will really help you?

The following 5 steps will help you to recognize the differences between food supplements, and will disclose the questions you should ask in your pharmacy.
At the first sight, they look the same, which one will really help you? The answer to the question is right here.

1. How can the producer guarantee that the product will really help you?

In order to assure help to your body, the product must comply with three tasks: It must contain an active substance, it must contain within sufficient amount, and your body must be able to absorb the substance.

The reliable products pass so called ‘measuring of the active substance content’. It guarantees that the product provides exactly the amount of active substance guaranteed by the producer. Walmark uses formulary methods for specifying active substances, validated directly for the respective product and performed on special machines. It guarantees correct and accurate measuring.

Large producers also use laboratories for measuring the tablet breaking rate. According to Walmark, coated tablets must dissolve in simulated stomach environment within 30 minutes, non-coated tablets must dissolve within 15 minutes. Timely dissolution of a tablet is a necessary prerequisite for absorbing the active substances.

2. How do I recognize that the active substance dose is suitable for me?

In order to enable the producers of food supplements to specify a suitable amount of active substance, they use scientific researches, clinical studies, and knowledge about substances which are insufficient in our population, and which can be combined for achieving the required effects.

Additionally to generally known studies published in renowned specialist magazines, Walmark perform their own clinical studies for evaluating the efficacy and safety of their products.

3. How does the producer verify the materials?

You can relay on the resulting product only if it is made from high quality products. Low quality products can contain heavy metals or adverse substances which can fail to help and also cause allergies and other health problems.

Trustworthy producer of food supplements must select high quality products at renowned suppliers and also test them in laboratories prior to use. The producer should never rely only the statement from the supplier.

Walmark for example check all materials by means of ultra red analysis. The test will notify the producer of deviations in material quality. This way, we assure compliance with the product specification. Additionally, a significant part of this control process at Walmark is also above-standard microbiological inspection. It guarantees that the product content is not contaminated with fungi, mould, and pathogenic bacteria, such as: Salmonella, Staphylococcus aureus or bacteria from Enterobacteriaceae group.

4. How do we guarantee product safety?

Safety guarantee of medicines or food supplements can be assured only if the package is sufficiently secured from opening.

Walmark products in plastic containers provide double guarantee. It is protected by the safety lid and special foil Siltec. It provides reassurance that the product was not open before you received it.

The tablets in aluminium foil must be protected in similar way. Walmark measure the tightness of the aluminium foil and guarantee that it cannot be contaminated with foreign substances.

5. Does the producer have ‘GMP Certificate’?

GMP certificate is awarded only to such producers who comply with the conditions of good manufacturing practise. Care for a new product starts before the original materials are used in the production plant. It particularly includes the selection of high quality and verified producers of pharmacologically active substances mostly of vegetal origin. The extracts are verified in our own laboratories and guarantee the effects compliant with the text specified on the completed product package. Care focused on the product during the production process is equal to the production of medicines, which is under continuous inspection of specialists – inspectors for appropriate production practise (SÚKL Praha). GMP certificate certifies that the respective producer complies with the strict criteria applied during the production and inspection of medicines.

GMP certificate guarantees that your selected product was not made in amateur environment but under carefully monitored production conditions. It provides reassurance that the product is not contaminated. Walmark, the largest producer of food supplements in the whole central and eastern Europe, is one of few companies holding the GMP certificate.
